At Lake Norman Dance Gallery, our nationally award-winning Competition Team is designed for dancers who are passionate about taking their training to the next level. While championships are exciting, our greatest success is developing confident, disciplined, and well-rounded dancers who love the art of dance.

Our dancers receive elite technical training from an experienced faculty while building friendships, leadership skills, and memories that last a lifetime.

Our Competition Team is made up of dancers who are committed to expanding their training beyond recreational classes. Team members attend regional competitions, conventions, performances, community events, and Nationals while receiving advanced instruction in technique, artistry, performance quality, and teamwork.

Whether your dancer dreams of dancing professionally, in college, or simply wants the best training available, our program is designed to help them reach their fullest potential.

Any dancer ages 5+ with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and love for dance is welcome to audition.

Current LNDG recreational students and dancers new to our studio are encouraged to audition.

No previous competition experience is required.

Previous team members must re-audition each season.

Placement is based on several factors including:

• Technical ability

• Performance quality

• Age

• Work ethic

• Classroom attitude

• Attendance

• Team chemistry

• Audition evaluation

Our faculty carefully places each dancer where they will be challenged, encouraged, and set up for success.

All placement decisions are made in the best interest of both the individual dancer and the team.

Most competition teams attend approximately:

• 4 Regional Competitions
• 1 National Competition
• Community performances
• Studio showcases and recital

One thing that makes LNDG unique is that our dancers receive elite-level training while maintaining balance with school and family life.

Competition dancers train just three days each week.

Additional rehearsals will be scheduled leading up to competitions, Nationals, or special performances.

Training is customized for each team.

Depending on placement, dancers may be required to take:

• Ballet

• Technique

• Tumble

• Stretch & Conditioning

• Acro

• Jazz

• Contemporary

• Tap

• Leaps & Turns

• Strength/Flexibility

Strong technical training is the foundation of our program.

Competition dancers are expected to:

• Attend all required classes and rehearsals

• Practice outside of class

• Arrive prepared and on time

• Demonstrate good sportsmanship

• Support teammates

• Respect instructors and fellow dancers

• Maintain a positive attitude

We believe character is just as important as talent.

Our competition program works best when families and staff work together.

We ask parents to:

• Communicate respectfully

• Read studio emails regularly

• Support their dancer without coaching from the audience

• Encourage commitment and responsibility

• Promote kindness and positive team culture

All dancers interested in joining the Lake Norman Dance Gallery Competition Team are required to attend our week-long Summer Intensive, followed by Competition Team Auditions at the end of the week. Our intensive allows dancers to train with our faculty, experience our program, and gives our instructors the opportunity to evaluate each dancer's technique, work ethic, attitude, and overall placement.

While our 2026–2027 Summer Intensive and Auditions have already taken place, we still have limited openings on select teams.
